Miami-Dade County, FL – In a recent County Citizens Defending Freedom (CCDF-USA) newsletter, we highlighted a story out of Miami-Dade County Florida discussing the placement of United States flags on school grounds. In an effort to comply with Florida statutes and district policy, the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) School Board directed their superintendent to review existing policies, statutes, federal guidelines, and amend board policy to ensure that the American flag is appropriately displayed on school grounds.
Late last week, Alex Serrano and Alan Chovel, Executive Director and Deputy Director of Miami-Dade County Citizens Defending Freedom (CCDF-Miami-Dade), personally delivered 500 flags to the M-DCPS District. The flags, which are made here in the United States by Colonial Flag, will help facilitate the district’s measures to correct a failure to display American flags outside schools and in hundreds of classrooms. CCDF-Miami-Dade would like to thank School Board Member Roberto Alonso for taking on this important initiative and for working with them to bring this donation of flags to fruition.
