Collin CDF brings pressure to Plano ISD

Momma bears of Plano ISD began in May of 2023 a reconsideration campaign to remove 70 sexually explicit books in Plano ISD libraries.  They followed the process the district provided and awaited for their decision. To their dismay, all of them were retained by the district, except; for 17.  In September, Shannon Ayres, Collin CDF Education Lead, went to speak at the Plano School Board meeting.  After 5 hours of waiting to be heard, she spoke at 10:45 p.m. where she put Plano ISD board on notice that it was time to make their decision to keep the sexually explicit books public.  Collin CDF then began our own campaign and started with social media memes showing the written words of the vulgar books Plano ISD thought needed to be in their libraries, we then gathered citizens across the county, invited influencers and media, and faith groups to speak out at the October Board meeting.  To see the memes and videos go to our Instagram page below and read the article from Texas Scorecard.
