Original Press Announcement

Get a cup of coffee and take a deep breath because you will not believe this.  The SAVVAS textbooks up for adoption need to be stopped NOW.  Read the facts and decide if you should share your opinion.  Share with other parents and concerned citizens.

In April of 2024, Nassau County School District (NCSD) is proposing the adoption of numerous textbooks from McGraw Hill, Gallopade and SAVVAS Learning, LLC (division of Pearson Publishing).  Public responses were due by April 28.  The public can provide feedback to the school board up until the public hearing and vote on May 20th at 5:00 at the School Board Chambers on Atlantic Avenue.   You can get involved by calling the Superintendent and School board member and sending them an email with your opinion and any concerns.

Based upon research, Nassau Citizens Defending Freedom objects to all of the SAVVAS Learning, LLC textbooks due to specific textbook content, dynamic online materials that are not available for public review and have not been reviewed by the district, SAVVAS/Pearson Social Emotional Learning (CASEL.org) relationship, and Pearson alignment with Gender Spectrum Symposium, and Pearson alignment with Tavistock & Portman, UK’s largest provider of transgender services.

Details of the facts behind the objections are included via links and documents here.

If enough community members object, maybe the school district will not spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on these textbooks.
