April 2024 – Nassau CDF Newsletter

We have lots of information all in one place.  Please read and contact us if you have questions or want to get involved.  We could use your help!

May has already been a very busy month in Nassau County.  Kids are graduating from school, summer break is starting, Shrimp Fest is over, elections are coming up and Nassau CDF is SHINING LIGHT AND TAKING ACTION.

Below are several key issues going on around town.  As usual, many issues are focused on educating our children and not indoctrinating.  Join us in helping teachers work through the bureaucracy and other challenges that are driving teachers away.  We need our teachers to stay, but they need help!

Nassau Public School issues

  • On April 26the Nassau CDF made a textbook challenge – errors, misstatements, political indoctrination, LGBTQ influences. Today, we published our testimony and evidence to be presented the Textbook Objection Hearing on May 20th at 5:00 at the School Board Chamber.
  • As you might expect Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a key component of the textbooks we are objecting to.
  • Marsha’s Metzger with ParentsOnTheLevel recorded several videos with powerful, specific information that parents should be aware of regarding SEL
  • Lack of budget transparency. The school board is talking budgets, but not publishing anything for the public to see.  Our team is seeking transparency.
  • PRR lawsuit for access to mental health curriculum – Hearing is scheduled for June 18th at the Historic Courtroom in Downtown Fernandina Beach at 10:00
  • What is public school for? Something to think about.    Short video
